Ingredients
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 eggs, beaten
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 1 cup orange juice
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
- 1 tablespoon grated ginger
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- Cooked white rice
- Green onions and sesame seeds for garnish
Directions
- Prepare the Chicken:
- In a bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Dip the chicken pieces into the beaten eggs, then coat with the flour mixture.
- Fry the Chicken:
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or deep fryer over medium-high heat.
- Fry the coated chicken pieces in batches until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
- Make the Sauce:
- In a saucepan, combine the orange juice, soy sauce, sugar, rice vinegar, grated ginger, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
- Add the cornstarch and water mixture to the saucepan, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens.
- Combine and Serve:
- Toss the fried chicken pieces with the orange sauce until well coated.
- Add the diced green bell pepper and stir to combine.
- Serve the orange chicken over cooked white rice.
- Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
